Description

Kinusaiga (kee-noo-sigh-gah), often called No Sew Quilting, was created in Japan in the 1980s. It’s a thoroughly modern craft, but it leans into the make-do-and-mend spirit of makers all over the world. It’s very trendy right now, and it’s a fun way to make a finished piece of art in a single afternoon. This is a ZERO skills class, which means you don’t need to be creative or crafty to enjoy it. And if you ARE creative and crafty, this class is perfect for you too!

In this class you’ll make two unframed wall hangings. You can make a set of leaves like the ones shown here, OR work from another simple line drawing. Bring your own basic design or choose from the ones we provide.

You’ll learn how Kinusaiga works and the steps that go into a project, and then you’ll start your own. Most students finish one piece in class and may start the second before class is over. But have no fear! You’ll go home with everything you need to finish your second piece at home.

The class price includes all materials. All you need to bring is a willingness to try a new craft and have some fun. If you have good sewing scissors OR fabric scraps in colors you’d like to use, you’re welcome to bring them. Otherwise, everything will be provided.

This class uses scalpels and seam rippers, so it is NOT open to anyone under 18. All students must be 18 or older.

Class will be held Sunday November 8th 1PM-5PM at the Rebarchek Agricultural Farm in the Colony Barn in Palmer, Alaska. Directions to the class will be sent in a class reminder 24 hours before the class starts.
